Facebook Has Gone to Poop (Literally) #NSFW

One of the most fascinating aspects of the digital world is the ability to target … and target they have.

When you find your specific audience, there’s a chance your ad may appear near inappropriate content, which has big brands running away from YouTube.  Some have moved those dollars into the “apparent” safety of Facebook.

But what happens when your ad appears near inappropriate ads on Facebook?

Just a warning … #NSFW

Maybe I’m the only lucky one, but this beautifully crafted ad showed up in my Facebook Newsfeed (AKA Poopfeed)

I know what you’re thinking … “I’ve never seen that ad” …. so how did it arrive on my Facebook page?

Targeting.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Penthouse suite of a luxury hotel last month and was unlucky enough to be stuck with one of those $10,000 Toto Toilets.  Unlucky … because once you’ve used one, you then began a search to find out how to put one in your home.

(***WARNING — do not click that link unless you want to start seeing similar TUSHY ads on your Facebook)

With all the fuss over ‘brand safety’ for inappropriate content, what happens when your brand’s message follows an ad for TUSHY?

The issue with the #Poopfeed – it’s never ending, it’s a constant scroll.

End result, your ad could show up while your targeted consumer is contemplating something you may consider not safe for your brand.
