Mark Zuckerberg has made comments based on the future of video and its influence on Facebook:
“The big decision we made was to shift a lot of our video efforts to focus on Live, because it is this emerging new format; not the kind of videos that have been online for the past five or ten years.”
It comes down to stopping thumbs. If you’re scrolling through your feed, chances are, you’re going to come across a video that you want to see. It doesn’t matter what it is – it stopped your thumb.
